Takt time is the drumbeat customer demand sets for your line. Enter your working pattern and demand — the calculator does the rest, in your browser.
Available time is working time minus breaks (takt uses planned availability — downtime is a problem to fix, not to plan around). With the defaults: (480 − 30) × 2 shifts = 900 min/day; 900 × 60 ÷ 700 parts = 77.1 seconds per part.
Takt is what the customer needs; cycle time is what your process does. Every station's cycle time must beat takt or the line can't hit demand — that gap analysis is line balancing, and it's exactly what the full workbook does across 60 work elements.
The full workbook balances 60 work elements against takt, shows station loading live, and computes bottleneck, minimum stations, and balance efficiency.
